📋 Description

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team • Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and support them throughout delivery • Collaborate with product management, design and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle • Participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions considering risks and trade-offs • Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology and business issues • Create and monitor metrics for artifact operations and availability • Escalate issues and support keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts • Set or improve code review and design standards • Advocate for engineering standards through writing and tech talks • Develop team talent through feedback, guidance and leading by example • Build and operate systems enabling bank and card payments across Affirm’s international markets

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin • Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes • Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple and extensible designs • Ability to write high-quality, understandable code • Proficiency making significant changes in a large code base safely • Experience developing tools and practices that enable safe changes • Experience demonstrating ownership of professional growth and proactively seeking feedback • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
