• Oversee and support aviation operations throughout the Northeast region • Support organization, direction, and administration of regional aviation activities and personnel • Focus on safety, training, and daily aviation duties • Ensure regional operations comply with regulations, operations specifications, and the General Operations Manual • Participate in Air Methods’ management team • Research and report FRx budget/actual variances to the Director of Operations • Ensure completion of aviation management tasks for base startup, closure, and movement • Distribute and revise Operations Manual and Operations Specifications materials as required • Manage aircraft integration, availability, and trained pilots supporting operational requirements • Delegate aviation field logistical support to the Area Manager • Attend or delegate fleet status teleconferences • Coordinate pilot training and medical crewmember/communication specialist training • Coordinate safety issues, assist with mishap investigations and root cause analysis • Monitor aviation personnel performance, compliance, audit deficiencies, and reporting • Ensure pilots use the 411 system • Coordinate backup aircraft training and maintain accurate training records • Conduct or coordinate ferry and MOC flights • Monitor and respond to AIDMOR submissions • Coordinate correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies with Regional Maintenance • Complete initial GPS updates for assigned aircraft • Act as on-scene representative for accidents and incidents • Educate pilots on SMS and ASAP programs • Directly supervise Aviation department employees, including hiring, training, assigning work, performance management, and resolving complaints • Maintain flexible availability, including 24/7 operational requirements • Perform other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in aviation and air medical transports • Two (2) years of experience in a Part 135 operation • Part 135 and helicopter pilot experience • Strong knowledge of regional geography, weather challenges, HEMS relationships, and operational demands • Effective oral and written communication skills • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills • Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions consistent with essential job functions • Ability to prepare written reports, correspondence, and presentations to senior leadership • Proven leadership skills • Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships • Ability to maintain and encourage objectivity in assessing operations, maintenance, fuel quality, Communication Specialist personnel, and safety matters • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements
