📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain the systems and services that form Alpaca's foundation and empower millions of users • Lead regional recruitment initiatives and foster Alpaca culture in the region • Lead cross-functional team projects and mentor talent on engineering principles and practices • Ensure operational reliability engineering and act as incident commander during regional business hours for 24x7 stability • Design highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems • Develop and enhance middle and back office systems including gRPC microservices, React-based internal admin UI, and third-party vendor integrations • Collaborate with core teams to enhance and transform the core framework to support multiple languages, currencies, and markets • Collaborate with tech leads in other regions synchronously and asynchronously using Slack and occasional meetings outside regular hours • Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs to maintain system integrity and performance • Thrive in a global environment, navigating regulatory requirements and building scalable solutions to support international growth • Be available for on-call duties to assist with timely engineering projects

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience in designing and developing complex financial systems, preferably including double-entry accounting • Strong understanding of accounting principles, ledger structures, and transaction reconciliation • Experience in building scalable, high-availability financial applications that handle multi-currency transactions • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements in financial markets • Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages • Expertise in designing robust and efficient system architectures • Experience working with financial APIs, market data integrations, and trade settlement processes • Strong communication skills to collaborate with global teams, regulators, vendors, and stakeholders • Strong computer science fundamentals and proven software engineering architecture experience • Ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed team and under pressure • Strategic thinking and ability to translate technical concepts into business strategies • Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven design • Ability to act as incident commander and lead/troubleshoot incidents or bugs with authority • May be asked to be on-call to assist with timely engineering projects • (Nice-to-have) Experience in the financial services sector • (Nice-to-have) Experience working in a startup or fast-growing technology company • (Nice-to-have) Knowledge of emerging technologies • (Nice-to-have) Experience or passion for financial markets • (Nice-to-have) Experience managing vendors and organizational budgeting • (Nice-to-have) Experience working with global teams
