📋 Description

• Design a highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage system • Develop and enhance middle- and back-office systems, including gRPC microservices, a React-based UI for internal administration and API developers, and third-party vendor integrations • Work with core teams to enhance and transform the core framework for multiple languages, currencies, and markets • Collaborate with tech leads in other regions synchronously and asynchronously, including occasional meetings outside regular working hours • Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs to maintain system integrity and performance • Navigate regulatory requirements and build scalable solutions supporting international growth • Participate in on-call support for timely engineering projects • Lead regional recruitment initiatives, support cross-functional projects, mentor engineering talent, and foster Alpaca culture in the region • Serve as operational reliability and engineering lead and incident commander during regional business hours, ensuring proactive 24x7 stability • Architect and implement software solutions aligned with strategic objectives

🎯 Requirements

• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages • Expertise designing robust and efficient system architectures • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive mindset • Strong communication skills for collaboration with global teams, local regulators, vendors, and internal stakeholders • Ability to act as incident commander and lead and troubleshoot incidents or bugs • Strong computer science fundamentals • Proven software engineering architecture experience • Ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment • Strategic thinking and ability to translate technical concepts into business strategies • Experience with event-driven design • Nice-to-have: experience with AI tooling such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex • Nice-to-have: experience in startups or fast-growing technology companies • Nice-to-have: knowledge of emerging technologies • Nice-to-have: domain-driven design experience • Nice-to-have: global team experience • Nice-to-have: financial services, online trading, brokerage systems, or fintech experience • Nice-to-have: complex financial systems design, preferably including double-entry accounting • Nice-to-have: financial transaction processing, trade lifecycle management, and settlement knowledge • Nice-to-have: online trading systems, order management, execution, market data processing, and real-time trade processing • Nice-to-have: scalable, high-availability financial applications handling multi-currency transactions • Nice-to-have: financial APIs, market data integrations, and trade settlement processes • Nice-to-have: familiarity with financial-market regulatory compliance requirements
