📋 Description

• Review documentation in same day surgery and observation medical records and assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4/HCPCS procedural codes to greatest specificity • Abstract demographic and coding information accurately into EMR and assign correct APC • Resolve coding edits and reminders and complete assigned work by goal date • Query providers as needed and assist with unassigned/backlogged accounts • Serve as mentor to new coders and assist with outpatient and emergency coding when assigned • Comply with Wellstar policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 3 years acute care same day surgery and observation coding experience • CCS (Cert Coding Specialist) or CPC, RHIA, RHIT preferred • Maintain a or higher accuracy in abstracting, code and DRG assignment while meeting productivity requirements • Ability to work in a remote environment • Computer/data entry experience • Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team • Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word
