📋 Description

• Design and ship features, services, and build systems behind Chainguard Containers • Lead small sub-teams of two to four engineers • Build hardened container images, the registry that serves them, and adoption tooling for engineers and AI agents • Architect and drive major features and services from concept through production and initial customer use • Make and document high-leverage product and technical trade-offs • Use AI coding agents to build, review, and operate software, and establish safe team practices • Work across team boundaries, including with other services, customers, support, and go-to-market data • Mentor engineers through design reviews and pair work • Partner with Product and engineering leadership on roadmap decisions • Maintain system health through observability, on-call, and corrective fixes • Write design notes, decision records, and status updates

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years building and operating software used by paying customers • Led at least one multi-engineer project end to end • High agency and urgency • System-level trade-off judgment • Systems thinking across build pipeline, registry, distribution, and customer runtime • Daily use of agentic coding tools and experience changing team workflows through them • Ability to turn ambiguous product goals into concrete technical plans • Architectural depth in Go, including designing a Go service from scratch • Strong API design, databases and caching, and cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS • Deep knowledge of containers, container registries, OCI image format, and Kubernetes • Track record of mentoring engineers and raising technical practices across a team • Excellent written English • Experience working on a distributed, remote-first team • No visa sponsorship or relocation provided • Nice to have: software supply chain security, SBOMs, Sigstore, SLSA, Wolfi, apko, melange, Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code, open-source project authorship or maintenance
