📋 Description

• Define and evolve the end-to-end developer experience across Walrus's product surfaces and key workflows • Lead discovery with product and engineering by framing problems, identifying unanswered questions, and determining needed evidence • Conduct developer interviews and usability tests, prototype solutions, and synthesize findings into actionable decisions • Design complex technical workflows involving dense data, system state, configuration, resource management, and high-consequence actions • Influence product direction and challenge product and engineering assumptions • Establish and maintain Walrus's design system, shared components, interaction patterns, and product principles • Benchmark comparable developer and infrastructure products • Partner with engineering through development, design QA, and incorporation of partner requirements and feedback • Establish and maintain standards for excellent developer-product design as the organization grows

🎯 Requirements

• 8–10 years of product design experience with demonstrated ownership of complex technical products • Portfolio demonstrating ownership of shipped developer tools, cloud/infrastructure products, consoles, dashboards, or similarly complex technical products • Ability to simplify technically sophisticated workflows without removing needed control or information • Strong interaction-design skills across data-heavy interfaces, tables, configuration, complex states, progressive disclosure, permissions, errors, and high-consequence actions • Experience independently identifying and framing product problems rather than primarily executing predefined requirements • Track record of influencing product strategy and roadmap decisions through design • Strong qualitative research instincts and experience with lightweight user research and usability testing • Experience creating or significantly evolving design systems and reusable interaction patterns • Strong partnership with engineering and willingness to remain involved through implementation and design QA • Excellent communication skills and confidence disagreeing constructively with senior product and engineering partners • Comfort operating autonomously in an ambiguous, rapidly evolving technical environment • Legally authorized to work in the country where the role is located • Must disclose whether visa sponsorship is currently or potentially required
