📋 Description
• Hey there, join us in revolutionising the way we understand and mitigate human risk! • Location: Remote (Manila, Philippines) • Hours: Full-time, with partial overlap with UK business hours • Employment Type: Remote.com full time employment contract • We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Engineering team, based in Manila, Philippines • This role will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, overseeing the development and collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, and the Agile Delivery Manager. • You’ll play a critical part in driving technical excellence and building strong connections across our primarily UK-based team. • Manage a team of 4 engineers, including recruitment and onboarding. • Oversee the development and delivery of features within the assigned product area. • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and the Agile Delivery Manager. • Implement and maintain Scrum methodology with 2-week sprints. • Conduct regular one-on-ones and team meetings. • Participate in bi-weekly Stakeholder Demos. • Manage technical debt and refactoring efforts. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning. • What You Bring to the Team • Proven experience in engineering management or team leadership. • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to mentor and develop engineering talent. • Experience with continuous integration and deployment practices. • Familiarity with cloud technologies, particularly AWS. • Understanding of microservices architecture and containerisation (Kubernetes). • Beneficial Knowledge • Experience with PHP and Laravel framework. • Familiarity with AWS services, particularly RDS and EKS. • Knowledge of database technologies, including MySQL and Redis. • Experience with or willingness to learn Kafka and Databricks. • Understanding of frontend technologies and frameworks. • Additional Requirements for Manila-based Candidates • Timezone flexibility: Must be comfortable working with some overlap with UK business hours to collaborate effectively with the majority of the team. • Location: Must be legally eligible to work in the Philippines. • Passport Requirement: Must hold a valid Philippine passport (for identity verification and compliance with Remote.com). • Language: Must be fluent in English (written and spoken) to collaborate with our global team. • Remote Work Setup: Reliable internet connection and a workspace that supports effective remote work. • Cultural Fit: Comfortable working with a UK-based engineering, product, and design team, bridging time zones and communication styles.
