📋 Description

• Lead a team of around 7–8 engineers within Flex • Report to the Engineering Director • Create a high-performing engineering environment where people can thrive, grow and deliver meaningful customer outcomes • Coach engineers, challenge technical decisions, drive engineering quality and partner with Product to shape solutions • Strengthen the partnership between Engineering and Product • Help shape the future team model as the Flex and DSR organisations integrate • Hire exceptional talent and develop engineers through 1:1s, coaching and career pathways • Own sprint planning, backlog prioritisation and execution in partnership with Product • Champion design, testing, code review and CI/CD practices • Shape architectural decisions and partner with architects and SRE on scalable, secure and observable systems • Collaborate with Product, UX, Data and SRE on priorities, acceptance criteria and releases • Support on-call readiness, lead blameless post-incident reviews, strengthen runbooks, monitoring and alerting, and embed SLIs/SLOs • Remove friction, automate manual processes and foster experimentation, improvement and innovation

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years managing engineers with a track record of hiring, coaching and developing teams • Experience shipping production microservices or cloud-native applications using public cloud (AWS preferred) • Practical understanding of automated pipelines, Infrastructure as Code and container orchestration (Kubernetes or equivalent) • Experience driving test strategy, automated testing and code quality initiatives • Familiarity with monitoring, logging and incident management practices • Strong communication skills and ability to influence across product, design, SRE and senior leadership • Strong coding experience in at least one modern language (Java, Kotlin, Python, Go or C#) • Familiarity with system design and architecture patterns
