📋 Description

• Support public safety by ensuring enquiries, checks and assessments linked to firearms, shotgun and explosives licensing are completed thoroughly and accurately • Gather, review and record information from intelligence systems, partner agencies, medical professionals and open-source checks • Identify and document risk indicators including criminality, domestic abuse, mental health concerns and signs of vulnerability • Clarify and escalate information where necessary so appropriate investigative activity can take place • Prepare concise and accurate application summaries • Assess applications against a risk matrix or escalate them with relevant information to decision makers • Action notifications of address changes and notices of firearm sales or purchases • Respond to other public requests, completing relevant checks and maintaining a complete audit trail • Contribute to ongoing monitoring of certificate holders • Review incident, intelligence and partner-agency information that may affect certificate-holder suitability • Identify threats or concerns and promptly bring relevant information to delegated-authority decision makers • Interpret and apply the Firearms Act 1968, Home Office Statutory Guidance, firearms licensing guidance and security requirements to case files • Ensure recommendations and assessments align with national and force expectations

🎯 Requirements

• Basic understanding of Data Protection legislation and Firearms Licensing Law • Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information • Effective verbal and written communication skills for engaging with internal teams and the public • Experience managing deadlines and working within compliance frameworks • Ability to work with high-volume data quickly and accurately • Self-motivated, able to work independently and solve problems • Good IT skills, proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Office 365 • Good standard of general education • One year’s experience in an administrative role in a busy office environment would be an advantage, ideally providing a high volume of service to the public • If not from the UK, must be a UK resident and have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years • Must be free from restrictions with indefinite leave to remain, where applicable • UK applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years, with an exception for those serving abroad in the British Armed Forces • May be required to complete additional vetting information depending on current vetting level and security clearances
