📋 Description

• Provide peer support to any family or caregiver living in the community of Terrace. • Provide peer support to families and caregivers whose children and youth are experiencing difficulty with their mental health and/or with substance use. • Work as part of the ICY team supporting Terrace and the surrounding communities of Coast Mountain School District 82. • Provide emotional support to families and caregivers. • Share information and resources with families and caregivers. • Offer knowledge/education to families and caregivers. • Help families and caregivers navigate (find their way to) services. • Build on parents and caregivers strengths and offering hope. • Meet with families and caregivers in-person, by video chat, phone and email.

🎯 Requirements

• Personal parenting experience is the primary requirement for this role. • Good at building relationships • Make connections easily • Demonstrate compassion and care to others • Strong ties and/or an in-depth understanding of the Kitselas and Kitsumkalum culture, traditions and language. • Able to work well with Service Providers and Educators and as part of a multidisciplinary team • Strong verbal and written skills (adaptations are available to support the successful candidate.) • Comfortable promoting and presenting on your work and role as a Family Peer Support Worker services within the community. • Good working knowledge of Google Workspace, including gmail, calendar and docs • Have a Driver's License and access to a vehicle, travel to meet with families in various communities is required • Can pass a criminal records check • Have the ability to work from a home office and in the community.
