📋 Description

• Lead project-level process engineering design efforts for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other specialized manufacturing facilities • Develop process calculations, equipment sizing, material and energy balances, and engineering solutions using fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles • Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, technical documentation, construction documents, drawings, reports, and specifications • Evaluate process equipment, piping systems, utilities, and control requirements • Review technical calculations, designs, construction submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs • Conduct facility evaluations, engineering studies, and process assessments; recommend improvements • Apply GMP, FDA, ISPE, permitting requirements, codes, and industry standards • Coordinate process design with mechanical, electrical, automation, architectural, and other engineering disciplines • Lead process discipline coordination and resolve technical challenges • Support scope development, fee calculations, technical documentation, and engineering deliverables • Manage assigned design responsibilities, schedules, and priorities • Communicate technical recommendations to project teams, clients, vendors, and contractors • Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, qualification, and validation activities • Build client relationships by understanding operational needs and developing practical solutions • Provide technical direction and feedback to junior engineers, designers, and technicians • Improve engineering workflows, design quality, project coordination, and team effectiveness • Continue developing technical expertise, project management capabilities, and leadership skills

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field • 4+ years of relevant process engineering experience • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred • Experience with process design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, material balances, and equipment sizing • Understanding of process control, equipment operation, and applicable regulatory requirements, including GMP, FDA, and ISPE guidelines • Experience preparing and reviewing process engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or Revit • Experience with process engineering analysis tools for fluid flow, equipment sizing, capacity modeling, or process simulation • Ability to independently evaluate technical challenges and develop practical engineering solutions • Experience coordinating process design with multidisciplinary engineering teams • Strong technical communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support project schedules and deliverables • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam • Process engineering experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments is especially valuable • Familiarity with AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, FlexSim, SchedulePro, or PHA Pro is especially valuable • Experience participating in HAZOP reviews is especially valuable • Experience supporting construction, commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) activities is especially valuable • Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical direction to designers and technicians is especially valuable
