📋 Description

• Lead, manage, and support daily HPC system operations • Maintain the reliability of the scheduling and system software stack supporting NOAA’s 24/7 numerical weather prediction mission • Collaborate with GDIT HPC engineers, system administrators, developers, and NWS operational staff • Troubleshoot issues and enhance system performance • Ensure consistent delivery of high-impact forecasting products • Improve system efficiency, scheduler reliability, job throughput, and operational resiliency • Analyze complex problems, propose innovations, and support implementation of technical enhancements • Use Linux system administration, HPC scheduler expertise, scripting languages, performance monitoring tools, and parallel computing technologies • Keep two large-scale supercomputing systems operating at peak performance • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 operational systems • Travel occasionally for team collaboration, training, or customer interaction

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science • 8+ years of related experience • US citizenship required • Linux system administration experience, with Rocky/SLES preferred • Experience with HPC batch schedulers such as PBS Pro, Slurm, or similar • Scripting abilities in Bash, Python, or Perl • Understanding of HPC architectures, distributed computing, and MPI-based workloads • Troubleshooting skills across multi-node HPC environments • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 operational systems • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed technical team • Occasional travel for team collaboration, training, or customer interaction
