📋 Description

• Lead one small, senior, highly autonomous web product team • Run regular 1:1s, monitor performance, and support engineers' growth, including compensation and career conversations • Own high-level planning and prioritization with Product and Design • Build and improve processes that keep the team synchronized and effective • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews • Lead the team's AI transformation, experimenting with tools and workflows and standardizing effective practices • Use AI to research systems, identify gaps, automate repetitive work, speed delivery, and create business value • Write and review code and own the technical direction of team modules • Make architectural decisions in a large modular monolith • Use customer insights to challenge solutions and help determine priorities • Reduce legacy code, add tests, and keep dependencies current • Report directly to the Engineering Director and collaborate with a Product Manager, Product Designer, other team leads, and DevOps

🎯 Requirements

• People management experience, including leading developers, conducting 1:1s, managing performance, and establishing team processes; this isn't a first step into management • Advanced PHP 8.1+ with Laravel or Symfony • Experience building large, scalable applications • Technical leadership and architecture experience on complex projects, including making design decisions • Existing daily use of AI tools in engineering work and willingness to lead further AI adoption • Product mindset focused on business impact and shaping solutions • Solid experience with PHPUnit and testing strategies across unit, integration, and functional tests • English at B2 level or higher • Experience with modular monoliths or microservices, practical Domain-Driven Design, SaaS/ERP/CRM/CMS, or startup/scale-up environments are nice-to-haves
