• Work alongside senior management and partners to provide bespoke corporate and business tax advice • Collaborate with specialist service teams (general practice, private client tax, legal, financial planning) to implement tax advice • Manage delivery of advice, balancing working with junior team members and reviewing their output • Prepare and deliver bespoke advice directly to partners/directors • Support partners in pitching for new clients both remotely and in person • Advise on reorganising business structures (share for share reorganisations, share buy backs) and relevant reliefs • Prepare tax valuations and clearance letters for submission to HMRC where necessary • Advise on employee share incentives (EMI schemes, growth shares) and prepare valuation reports for HMRC • Advise on qualifying conditions for EIS/SEIS and make advance assurance submissions • Write up technical tax analysis and apply it to clients’ facts; ensure accuracy of junior team members' work • Assist with compliance work: review OMB corporation tax returns and support general practice with annual computations and technical tax queries • Supervise team members handling income tax self-assessment, PAYE and corporation tax compliance • Play a role in day-to-day development and mentoring of peers and junior colleagues
• Preferably ACA/ACCA and CTA/ATT qualified • CTA qualified (mentioned in role description) • Extensive experience providing tax advisory services to owner-managed businesses after attaining qualifications • Experience working with owner-managed businesses (OMBs) and family businesses • Good working knowledge of corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT and stamp duty/SDLT • Experience assisting clients with business reorganisations (share for share reorganisations, share buy backs) and advising on reliefs • Experience preparing tax valuations and HMRC clearance letters • Awareness of employee share incentives (EMI schemes, growth shares) and preparing valuation reports for HMRC • Experience advising on qualifying conditions for tax reliefs such as EIS/SEIS and making advance assurance submissions • Ability to write technical tax analysis and apply to client facts • Experience reviewing work prepared by junior team members • Understanding of accountancy principles • Advanced Excel and Word skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Experience mentoring and developing junior colleagues • Organised, motivated, ability to prioritise and deliver to timescales and budgets • Ability to generate creative ideas for technical work and business development • Ability to build rapport with clients and win their trust
