📋 Description

• Work with internal stakeholders, particularly Publishing, Royalties and Product teams, to provide legal and commercial support • Foster and maintain relationships across the music industry • Draft, review and negotiate lyric publishing, licensing, commercial, supplier, data provider, NDA and vendor agreements • Draft and maintain distribution policies, company policies, papers, precedents and templates • Advise on copyright law relating to existing and proposed business opportunities, including product features, podcasts and AI-related use cases • Track copyright law developments across the UK, EU and US, including the DMCA and EU Copyright Directive, and translate implications for the business • Support data protection matters and maintain alignment with GDPR and other applicable privacy regulation • Manage copyright claims and disputes, coordinating external counsel on litigation matters as needed • Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risk across business lines • Develop and maintain relationships with publishing associations, collecting societies, and major and independent publishers • Support negotiation and execution of agreements with publishers and rightsholders • Work directly with clients, partners and external legal counsel where appropriate

🎯 Requirements

• Qualified lawyer, preferably trained at a leading firm • Several years' post-qualification experience, ideally gained in music, media, entertainment or digital/tech • Strong academics • Demonstrated track record drafting and negotiating commercial, licensing and IP agreements • Solid working knowledge of copyright law, music publishing/licensing structures and data protection • Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance legal risk with pragmatic, business-first advice • Highly organised and proactive • Comfortable managing multiple concurrent matters in a fast-paced, scaling environment • Experience working with or managing external counsel across multiple jurisdictions is a plus
