📋 Description

• Join Nory’s Platform team as the first dedicated Staff Mobile Engineer • Shape Nory’s restaurant-floor mobile app from the ground up • Assess the existing mobile app and define the architecture for a full production rebuild • Plan and ship an MVP in one to two quarters • Grow the rebuilt app into a platform for the wider engineering organization • Build reliable mobile experiences for patchy connectivity and low-spec devices • Implement offline caching for unreliable network conditions • Build and maintain push notifications, camera-based receipt and inventory scanning, and geolocation-verified clock-in • Make and defend product and UX decisions when design support is limited • Establish a React Native design system and modular building blocks • Design the codebase for effective use by AI coding agents • Own mobile code quality and delivery pace • Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineers across Nory • Serve as the outward-facing hub of a small platform team

🎯 Requirements

• Deep React Native experience; production React Native apps in TypeScript • Ability to run a mobile codebase independently, start to finish • Experience building native-only features such as push notifications, camera access, or geolocation • Comfortable reading and lightly extending FastAPI backend services • Comfortable working in React web codebases when needed • Experience with apps handling real usage and tens of thousands of actions per day • Knowledge of API calls, webhooks, and performance optimization • Ability to make independent product and UX decisions • Experience structuring codebases with a design system or shared component library • Experience using AI agents while maintaining high standards for design, detail, and craft • Experience taking a greenfield app from nothing to shipped or rebuilding a legacy app • Ability to explain architecture, testing, and migration decisions • Strong ownership and independent problem-solving • Clear and confident written and verbal communication • Right to work in the UK or EU without sponsorship • Based in the UK or EU • Bonus: experience with people tech or HR tech workflows at scale • Bonus: background on a web and mobile platform team • Bonus: experience building B2C or consumer-grade apps • Bonus: hands-on experience with Swift or Kotlin native APIs • Bonus: experience in hospitality, food service, or another operational industry
