📋 Description

• Design, build, and operate payment-domain services, including gateway integrations and payment intent, authorization, capture, and refund flows • Build payout orchestration and reconciliation capabilities • Implement marketplace capabilities such as onboarding/KYC integration, merchant configuration, settlement instructions, deductions, and invoicing/merchant-statement alignment • Build flow-of-funds primitives including idempotency, ledgers/events, and audit trails • Integrate with payment service provider and partner tooling, considering tri-party and sub-merchant implications • Implement dispute/chargeback and fraud-handling touchpoints across internal workflows and payment service provider tooling • Collaborate with Operations on runbooks and escalation paths • Partner with Product, Legal/Compliance, Finance, and Support to translate requirements into safe, testable production behavior • Improve automated testing, safe rollouts/canaries, observability, and incident response • Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and contribute to shared standards and documentation

🎯 Requirements

• Strong backend engineering background in distributed systems, including microservices, asynchronous processing, resilient APIs, and eventual consistency • Production experience with payment flows, including authorization, capture, refund, webhooks, and reconciliation • Knowledge of money-correctness patterns, including idempotency keys, double-entry thinking, and auditability • Security knowledge covering PCI compliance, PII protection, secrets management, least privilege, and secure coding practices • Comfort working in an Azure-first environment with APIs, queues/eventing, and monitoring • Strong CI/CD and automated testing practices • Clear, confident communication with non-technical stakeholders in high-stakes scenarios • Experience with sub-merchant, marketplace, or Payfac-like operating models is strong-to-have • Familiarity with dispute tooling, card scheme rules, 3DS/risk rules, or fraud platforms is strong-to-have
