📋 Description

• Define and lead a brand-new platform engineering team focused on Developer Experience • Own deployment templates, opinionated CI/CD patterns on Kubernetes cluster APIs, production readiness checklists, and onboarding flows • Track golden path adoption rate, deployment lead time, and time-to-first-deploy for new services • Diagnose and improve platform adoption when engineers bypass the platform • Lead development of an AI harness standardizing Claude Code, Cursor, and other assisted-development tools • Hire the team from scratch and own its culture and technical bar • Remain hands-on with coding, design reviews, and architectural decisions • Conduct discovery, write a team charter, interview candidates, and resolve developer friction • Deliver a Service Registry, measurable golden path adoption, and a defined team roadmap • Work with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Spacelift, GitHub Actions, and Datadog during the ECS-to-Kubernetes migration

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience with Python • 2+ years in leadership/management • Go experience is a strong plus • Hands-on experience building CI/CD systems, internal developer portals, or golden paths • Ability to read Helm charts, write Kubernetes admission webhooks, and debug GitHub Actions runner issues • Deep experience with Kubernetes-based platforms, including cluster APIs, namespaces, RBAC, admission control, and deployment patterns • Product mindset for internal tooling • Experience hiring engineers • Security-first thinking and practical knowledge of shift-left security • Fintech or regulated-environment experience is advantageous; Pliant operates under PCI DSS and SOC2 • Ability to read Java/Kotlin stack traces and build logs and distinguish configuration issues from code bugs • Fluent in English • Must be based in the UK or EU
