📋 Description

• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations • Lead monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and allocations • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, supported, and properly classified transactions • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, billings, collections, and reconciliations • Prepare and review bank and balance-sheet account reconciliations • Oversee payroll accounting and personnel cost allocations • Support cash-flow monitoring and treasury activities • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and other financial reviews • Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit requirements • Coordinate tax and regulatory filings, including Forms 1099 and 1096 • Maintain complete financial records and supporting documentation • Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash-flow projections, and long-term financial plans • Analyze budget-to-actual results, trends, and variances • Support scenario planning and financial analysis • Oversee financial management of grants and contracts • Maintain accounting for restricted and unrestricted funding • Review grant and contract expenditures for allowability, allocation, budget availability, and compliance • Monitor grant and contract budgets and spending • Collaborate on grant proposals, budgets, amendments, and financial reporting • Provide guidance and training on financial compliance processes • Build partnerships with Business Development, Program, Human Resources, and Operations teams • Translate financial information into practical guidance for non-financial stakeholders • Maintain and improve accounting systems, workflows, and processes • Support implementation, integration, and optimization of financial systems • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls • Identify automation and data-quality improvements • Promote consistent application of financial policies and controls • Report to the Chief Financial Officer

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required • CPA or advanced degree preferred • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting and financial management experience • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles • Experience with restricted funding, grant and contract accounting, functional expense reporting, and cost allocations • Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes and preparing accurate financial statements and management reports • Experience supporting annual financial statement audits and preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation • Experience with grant and contract financial management, including budgeting, expenditure monitoring, cost allocations, personnel time allocation, and funder reporting requirements • Strong understanding of internal controls and experience improving accounting processes, policies, systems, and workflows • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Experience working with cloud-based accounting and financial systems • Experience with Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Paylocity, Martus, or similar platforms preferred • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Collaborative and service-oriented approach • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment • Ability to work during Eastern Time Zone business hours
