📋 Description

• Build and evolve core systems that review safety detections and determine which events are surfaced to customers • Improve detection precision by identifying ambiguous cases, deflecting low-value reviews, and automating high-confidence triage • Work across backend systems, data, and AI-driven decisioning to improve customer-facing product quality and internal review efficiency • Partner with product, design, AI, and ML infrastructure teams to improve model feedback loops and safety detections • Own complex projects end-to-end from technical approach and design through rollout, measurement, and production iteration • Use modern AI-assisted engineering workflows for prototyping, implementation, debugging, and iteration • Raise quality, operability, and engineering clarity across Samsara’s Safety platform

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience, primarily in backend or distributed systems • Experience on a product engineering team shipping systems that solve real customer problems • Demonstrable focus on customer experience and ability to connect technical decisions to customer value • Consistent use of modern AI coding and reasoning tools, with strong judgment to validate outputs and maintain correctness, maintainability, and reliability • Strong programming and software engineering fundamentals • Production systems experience in at least one modern programming language • Experience designing and building large-scale, high-throughput systems • Experience operating in a data-led and data-backed environment • Strong cross-team and cross-functional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills • Ability to lead technical discussions clearly and constructively • Preferred: experience developing AI-native engineering workflows • Preferred: experience with real-world human or AI review systems • Preferred: experience partnering with AI or ML teams and familiarity with classifier-based systems • Preferred: deep experience in backend-oriented languages such as Go, Java, or similar • Preferred: experience designing orchestrated pipelines or workflow-based systems such as Temporal • Preferred: experience experimenting and iterating against data • Preferred: data-driven mindset • Preferred: track record of improving systems, contributing to team culture, mentoring, and helping teammates deliver better outcomes • Preferred: curiosity and ambition to challenge existing product and engineering approaches
