📋 Description

• Design and implement optimisation algorithms using mathematical programming, decomposition approaches, and metaheuristics • Define decision variables, constraints, objectives, feasibility/optimality trade-offs, and operational acceptance criteria • Model static, dynamic real-time optimisation, and sequential decision-making problems • Prototype, validate, and evolve approaches into robust production components • Deliver production-ready optimisation code, pipelines, and services • Build and maintain data ingestion and cleaning pipelines • Integrate optimisation services with APIs, UI hooks, scheduling, and execution layers • Implement logging, monitoring, metrics, error handling, retries, fallbacks, and regression tests • Contribute to cloud deployment practices and CI/CD pipelines • Engage with clients to gather specifications and understand domains • Communicate modelling choices, assumptions, limitations, and validation evidence • Measure post-deployment impact and value capture • Provide code reviews and contribute to engineering standards • Mentor and train team members on optimisation and delivery best practices

🎯 Requirements

• Relevant PhD or Master’s degree • Experience with applied optimisation problems, including industry experience • Deep expertise in at least one of mixed integer linear programming, metaheuristics, stochastic programming, or reinforcement learning • Strong ability to structure and implement optimisation solutions in real-world settings • Experience working in agile teams and cross-functional delivery environments • Technical leadership and/or team leadership experience • Excellent written and verbal communication in English • Reliability, accountability, collaborative mindset, and ability to give constructive feedback • Deep programming expertise in at least one of Python, Java, and/or Rust • Familiarity with cloud platforms • Familiarity with Git workflows • Familiarity with CI/CD • Familiarity with containerisation such as Docker/ECS-style tooling • Familiarity with experiment tracking and model/data versioning • Familiarity with workflow orchestration patterns • Systems-thinking, curiosity, proactivity, pragmatism, and data-driven decision-making • Adaptability to changing priorities • Commitment to operational value and current advances in optimisation, software development, and AI/ML
