📋 Description

• Own and manage the UKTC Hardware Scheme, including its operation, technical integrity, development and commercial growth • Develop and improve scheme rules, procedures, technical requirements and certification processes • Manage applications, membership requirements, certification activities, surveillance arrangements and ongoing compliance • Align certification with testing, EXAP, classification and other supporting technical evidence • Identify technical evidence gaps and opportunities for additional testing, EXAP, certification and technical activity • Build relationships with scheme members, manufacturers and industry stakeholders • Drive scheme membership growth and expand the scheme’s scope and market position • Monitor scheme performance and report on membership, certification activity, technical matters, commercial performance and development opportunities • Own additional UKTC Ensure certification and assurance schemes as developed or assigned • Lead new schemes from concept through implementation and support their transition into day-to-day operation • Work with the Director of Certification to develop new schemes and strengthen UKTC’s certification capability • Provide senior certification expertise, technical leadership and guidance across the Certification function • Support commercial growth, onboarding, strategic client relationships, forecasting and business development • Support audits, sampling, surveillance, verification activities and compliance reviews • Maintain records, traceability and supporting certification evidence • Mentor Certification Officers and support competency, training and professional development • Represent UKTC at industry meetings, technical forums, trade events and other activities • Maintain strategic relationships and monitor market developments, emerging requirements and scheme opportunities • Promote UKTC as a technically credible certification provider

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience within third-party product certification, conformity assessment or a closely related technical compliance environment • Strong practical understanding of certification scheme management, including scheme rules, certification requirements, surveillance and ongoing compliance • Demonstrable experience of developing, managing or providing senior technical input into product certification schemes • Strong understanding of certification and supporting technical evidence, including testing, classification, assessments and extended application where applicable • Ability to interpret complex technical information and apply appropriate judgement within a certification environment • Experience of working with manufacturers and other industry stakeholders • Strong commercial awareness while maintaining certification integrity and impartiality • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong understanding of impartiality, confidentiality, consistency and integrity within third-party certification • Ability and willingness to undertake regular UK travel where required • Desirable: experience in fire performance, fire doors, doorsets, architectural ironmongery or associated construction products • Desirable: experience certifying door hardware or associated products • Desirable: experience developing or launching new certification schemes • Desirable: experience with manufacturer auditing, product sampling and certification surveillance • Desirable: knowledge of fire resistance testing, classification and extended application standards • Desirable: experience in an accredited certification or conformity assessment environment • Desirable: relevant auditing, certification, quality or technical qualifications • Technically credible with sound professional judgement • Strong ownership and personal accountability • Strategic thinking and effective day-to-day scheme operation • Strong relationship-building and collaborative leadership • Commitment to impartiality, integrity, confidentiality and ethical conduct
