📋 Description

• Own architectural decisions governing how features are built, safely released to customers and supported long-term • Mentor engineers through code reviews and design partnership • Lead multi-quarter projects and break complex problems into iteratively validated milestones • Define success criteria, make trade-offs and escalate to leadership when appropriate • Partner with leadership on roadmap and technical strategy • Challenge requirements, propose alternatives and influence what is built and when • Own the operational health of systems • Use data to guide iteration, maintenance and deprecation decisions • Set the technical direction for the area • Anticipate 12+ month technical challenges and propose scalable solutions • Build engineering capabilities that improve developer velocity and quality at Synthesia, an AI video platform for business

🎯 Requirements

• At least seven (7) years of experience as a software engineer • At least 2–3 years working at senior/staff level • Hands-on experience building and operating developer platforms, CI/CD systems, observability/metrics infrastructure, code quality automation, testing infrastructure and/or developer tooling • Experience shipping infrastructure or tooling that measurably improved developer velocity or reduced cognitive load • Experience leading adoption of AI-powered developer tools or capabilities across an engineering organization • Experience in a high-performing engineering organization • Experience integrating third-party services, APIs, SaaS tools and external platforms into internal systems • Understanding of reliability, security, user experience and operational constraints at scale • Experience owning large technical areas end-to-end • Python implementation exercise capability • Legal authorization to work in the desired country; visa sponsorship support is limited to candidates already in the UK/EU country • Willingness to work full-time; contractors are not accepted
