📋 Description

• Own the Payments squad's delivery outcomes and engineering standards • Write specifications and design documents • Provide feedback on ADRs and review pull requests • Solve difficult technical problems through code or workflows • Set the architecture direction for the payments service • Own payment accuracy and processing efficiency to reduce processing costs • Define the squad's operating model and pace • Manage sequencing and dependencies • Diagnose throughput issues and make squad work visible to stakeholders • Coach junior engineers while collaborating with the senior engineer on difficult problems • Identify promotion and hiring gaps jointly with the manager • Report to the Service Manager for Saldo

🎯 Requirements

• Track record as a tech lead owning a squad's delivery and standards • Experience writing design documents, reviewing pull requests and ADRs, and solving problems hands-on while setting direction • Ability to balance hands-on work on major technical challenges with coaching junior engineers • Experience designing a team's ways of working from scratch, balancing speed, quality, and resilience • Experience owning cross-team sequencing and dependencies • Experience diagnosing throughput problems • Comfort setting technical direction in ambiguous areas • Experience driving technical blockers to resolution • Experience with payments systems (desirable) • Experience improving cost-to-process or processing efficiency in a high-volume service (desirable) • Experience taking a service from a basic first version to something built for scale (desirable) • Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing
