📋 Description

• Assess and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information for scheduled medical services • Collect copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, deposits, and down payments • Provide estimates for services and explain patient financial liability • Receive and process payments for current and past patient balances • Contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and obtain accurate billing information • Perform collections on outstanding accounts receivable • Ensure precertification authorization or referrals are in place before services are rendered • Refer patients to Financial Counselors or the Business Office based on patient needs • Reschedule appointments when requested or when financial circumstances require postponement • Enter clear notes regarding financial clearance status and communications in the system • Apply Financial Clearance Policy consistently and assess coverage gaps and patient financial exposure • Reprioritize work as needed and perform other duties to support department operations

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D. required • Business concentration preferred • Associate degree or higher preferred • 4+ years of experience in a business office setting required; hospital revenue cycle, physician office, or collection agency experience preferred • Prior experience in a healthcare environment required • Working knowledge of personal computers and business office applications preferred • Familiarity with hospital computer systems is a plus • Knowledge of third-party collections and reimbursement preferred • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted where applicable • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8am–4:30pm, 40 hours per week
