📋 Description

• Own the day-to-day finance function and report directly to the Founder & CEO • Manage the Finance Manager • Deliver accurate month-end accounts, balance-sheet reconciliations and financial reporting for leadership and the Board • Maintain revenue recognition and investigate discrepancies • Reconcile transactions across the marketplace platform, payment providers and accounting system, including seller payouts, refunds, fees and foreign exchange • Identify and resolve revenue leakage • Maintain cash-flow forecasts, budgets and a rolling financial outlook • Explain variances, challenge assumptions and flag risks with practical recommendations • Manage financial, tax and marketplace compliance, including statutory accounts, VAT and international requirements • Oversee accurate and timely payroll • Support people administration, employment documentation and contractual changes • Identify opportunities to improve margins, payment costs and operating expenditure • Own finance systems, including Xero and payment-provider reporting • Use automation and AI to reduce manual work and strengthen accuracy and controls • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, CX and other teams on payment and international expansion projects • Coach and develop the Finance Manager, document processes and manage external accounting relationships

🎯 Requirements

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or substantial equivalent experience running financial control and reporting • Experience owning month-end accounts, reconciliations, cash forecasting and budgeting • Ability to perform detailed financial work and review others’ work • Experience working in a small business with broad responsibilities • Strong problem-solving, judgement and commercial curiosity • Ability to explain financial information, challenge assumptions and recommend practical actions • Clear communication with non-finance colleagues • Ability to support and develop a colleague, delegate effectively and manage external accounting relationships • Confidence with accounting systems, spreadsheets and financial modelling • Interest in using new tools to improve work processes • Ability to work independently in a remote team while remaining connected, responsive and organised • Experience in a marketplace, e-commerce business or founder-led company would be useful • Exposure to Xero, payment platforms, international VAT or broader business compliance would be useful • Visa sponsorship is not available
