• Own day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of complex construction clients with minimal Controller or CFO oversight • Maintain sophisticated job cost structures for multi-phase and multi-contract projects • Maintain and review monthly WIP schedules, including over/under billing analysis • Lead AIA billing processes, draw request preparation, and retainage tracking • Manage subcontractor compliance, including lien waivers, insurance certificates, and 1099 preparation • Assist with monthly financial statements and job-level and company-level variance analysis • Identify and resolve complex job cost discrepancies and accounting issues independently • Informally mentor Accountants on construction-specific accounting practices • Support workers' compensation audit preparation and insurance reconciliations • Develop and document process improvements for construction client accounting cycles • Implement and maintain internal controls across client accounts • Use code red alerts and other tools to identify and prevent fraud • Meet or exceed billable hours goals while maintaining service excellence • Complete time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly initiatives • Participate in the Brand Ambassador program • Uphold security practices protecting client assets
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience • 6+ years of accounting experience with significant construction industry focus • Experience in a multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment strongly preferred • Deep expertise in job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-project client work independently • Proficiency with construction accounting software such as Sage, Procore, QuickBooks, ComputerEase, COINS, or similar • Demonstrated informal mentorship or knowledge-sharing with junior staff • Excellence in written and verbal communication with construction business owners
