📋 Description

• Handle all aspects of insurance-related litigation. • Defend policyholders and assert the company’s interests. • Evaluate settlement options. • Engage in trial court proceedings, arbitration hearings, and mediation sessions. • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Claims and Claim Managers to evaluate cases for settlement. • Prepare timely responses to complaints and other legal pleadings. • Attend pretrial hearings, trials, and settlement conferences. • Conduct depositions and manage other discovery processes. • Provide recommendations for additional claim investigations. • Keep the claims department informed of critical case law decisions. • Assist in building our Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. • Maintain a professional demeanor in all situations.

🎯 Requirements

• General knowledge and skill level of a practicing trial attorney. • Proficiency with modern Microsoft Office products. • Ability to learn and understand insurance policy conditions and provisions. • Familiarity with settlement values within the assigned territory. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Basic knowledge of anatomy or willingness to learn. • Prefer admitted practicing law in Ohio and Indiana or willing to attain reciprocity for either state. • Appropriate licenses to practice before boards, state and federal courts preferred. • Must reside in Ohio or Indiana. • Maintain required continuing legal education credits. • Property & Casualty Insurance experience preferred. • Three to five years of law practice is preferred.
