• Act as the first official contact for referred parents/caregivers • Assess program eligibility using an adapted screening tool and culturally respectful telephone interviews • Help parents/caregivers find additional supports and resources • Execute biweekly intake updates and case formulations • Assign and schedule eligible families to Parent/Caregiver Support Coaches • Register families on the program’s activity and video portal • Contribute to program monitoring, support, and development • Collect and enter referral data and family feedback survey data • Participate in collaborative discussions about adapting the program to families’ needs • Liaise with referral agents, including counsellors, school counsellors, Elders, family physicians, nurse practitioners, Indigenous child and youth mental health clinicians, early childhood educators, and family/youth support workers • Assess referral eligibility in consultation with the staff Registered Clinician • Serve parents/caregivers and referral agents in a timely manner according to program protocols and policies • Connect families with culturally safe and appropriate resources and service providers • Consult program supervisors when case concerns arise • Create regular reports and contribute to intake monitoring processes • Present intake updates and coach assignments during team clinical support round meetings • Maintain accurate, professional, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and respectful records • Participate in periodic program outreach initiatives • Participate in team training opportunities • Apply the Agency’s Diversity Lens and Framework for Support • Follow relevant legislation, policies, and First Nations, Métis, and Inuit guidelines • Perform additional related duties as required
• Bachelor’s degree in child and youth care or another related field working with families and children, with preference for specialized Indigenous family and community-oriented programs • Workplace training in administering mental health-related screening and interviewing • Workplace training in professional and human-centered case documentation • Approximately 3 years of relevant experience preferred • Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience will be considered • Knowledge and experience with BC First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives, cultures, histories, and knowledge systems • Knowledge of Indigenous wellness and healing practices • Knowledge of child development, including from Indigenous worldviews • Knowledge of and experience with adult learners from an Indigenous context • Ability to work inclusively and respectfully with diverse populations, including mixed families and 2SLGBTQIA+ people • Knowledge of intergenerational and ongoing impacts of colonial policies and practices on Indigenous people in Canada • Understanding of governmental institutions and related agencies affecting Indigenous families and children • Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to receive, integrate, and provide constructive feedback • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, multimedia, and digital applications • Effective time management and coordination skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Experience working with Indigenous parents/caregivers, families, and children in a supportive role • Understanding of Indigenous peoples’ lived experiences of wellness, well-being, and mental illness concerns • Experience with MS Outlook, Teams, and Word • Experience with mental health screening and interviewing is an asset • Experience with telephone and virtual-based service delivery is an asset • Must submit a resume and cover letter in PDF format documenting how requirements are satisfied
