• Determine patients’ primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance payers • Verify patient benefits and eligibility by contacting insurance companies • Seek prior authorizations and referrals for services • Determine patient financial impact and inform patients of possible financial responsibility • Verify medical insurance benefits for new, existing, and reactivated patients • Review and update patient accounts with insurance policy information • Notate accounts with clear summaries of eligibility and insurance benefits • Determine correct Coordination of Benefits • Confirm network status and member benefit coverage • Obtain and accurately enter insurance, demographic, and eligibility information • Review customer files for missing insurance information required for billing • Perform financial reviews of existing accounts to identify benefit issues • Maintain inbound faxes, manuals, logs, and other documentation • Complete insurance verification, reimbursement summary, and liability forms • Advise the Manager of verification trends and updates • Meet individual, departmental, and company goals • Conduct business according to ethical and professional standards and comply with applicable laws, regulations, the Advamed Code of Ethics, and company policies • Perform other duties as assigned
• High school diploma • Knowledge of medical terminology • Two years’ experience in medical insurance plans or benefit verification practices • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to read and understand explanations of medical benefits
