📋 Description

• Compile and assess publicly available fisheries datasets, including evaluating data gaps and data processing needs. • Develop research questions to assess the presence, extent, and impacts of fishing activities in existing and proposed MPAs (marine protected areas). • Recommend processes and methods to address these questions and, where possible, identify the technical or specialized expertise required to carry out this work. • Provide context on fisheries management and MPAs across Canada’s three coasts to inform future work. • Make recommendations for project implementation, including required expertise, staffing, work organization, timelines, and project budgets.

🎯 Requirements

• At least seven years of professional or academic experience (or an equivalent combination) in fisheries management, preferably within the Canadian context. • Strong knowledge of marine conservation, marine spatial planning, and MPAs in Canada. • Expertise in management and interpretation of spatial data.
