• Develop a general approach to identifying issues with medical equipment and devices that ECRI is evaluating. • Lead, review and provide guidance on Human Factors assessments. • Provide judgements, conclusions and recommendations based on the findings of studies. • Support human factors education, training and potential specialized certificates. • Assist in development and execution of clinically informed human factors workflow solutions which enable and promote patient safety and reduce preventable harm. • Embed human factors engineering (HFE) and safety science into consulting projects, risk assessments, and clinical operations for our clients’ engagements. • Collect and analyze relevant data from field studies or aggregation across client engagements in order to glean insights and recommend improvements for safety and clinical operations. • Act as HFE subject matter expert on sales and business development calls. • Work collaboratively as part of an HFE team. • Collaborate with other ECRI departments to develop new initiatives and service lines which are primarily focused on patient safety and reduction of preventable harm.
• Minimum of 2+ yrs experience working in healthcare. • Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering methods and deliverables. • Knowledge of user-centered design principles and usability best practices. • Real-world experience creating experimental designs, utilizing scientific methods and conducting human factors studies and end-user interviews. • Ability to provide consultative services to healthcare and related clinical teams. • Ability to develop and deliver learning and education materials. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. • Master's degree in human factors engineering and/or HFE-related discipline is required. • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
