• Develop, manage, and complete land protection projects and transactions advancing TNC’s Southern High Plains Initiative • Use conservation easements, fee title acquisitions, and Purchase, Protect, Resell projects to protect grasslands, rare and declining species habitat, and productive rangelands • Work directly with ranching families, private landowners, Tribal Nations, federal, state, and local governments, land trust partners, and conservation organizations • Independently lead complex land protection projects across Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas • Negotiate complex agreements • Manage multiple projects and timelines • Develop partnerships with landowners, government agencies, conservation organizations, and community groups • Craft and sustain written narratives for grant proposals, funder communications, and project pitches
• BA/BS, law or business degree and 3 years’ experience in land conservation, real estate, natural resource management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Experience with principles of land acquisition • Experience negotiating complex agreements • Experience managing multiple projects and timelines • Experience developing partnerships with landowners, government agencies, conservation organizations, or community groups • Experience crafting and sustaining compelling written narratives for grant proposals, funder communications, and project pitches • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and web browsers • Valid driver’s license • Compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program • Completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, potentially including a motor vehicle record review • Successful completion of TNC’s background screening process
