📋 Description

• Support the management of Pacific Environment’s Arctic Program, including developing and implementing various campaign and advocacy tactics to achieve our objectives; Support Pacific Environment’s engagement at the International Maritime Organization and Arctic Council and other international fora; Tracking and summarizing Arctic related submittals to the International Maritime Organization; tracking materials submitted to the Protection of the Arctic Marine Environment (PAME) working group of the Arctic Council; preparing submittals to the IMO, PAME, and other international Arctic fora; Lead policy strategy development and implementation in Alaska, and track U.S. and Alaska legislation related to Arctic issues; Build and maintain strategic partnerships with decision-makers and other key partners, including but not limited to, community and environmental justice groups, tribal nations, regulatory agencies, labor organizations, and more; Attend Arctic Coalition Meetings and assist in maintaining ongoing notes for those meetings; Attend and document Alaska community and Indigenous Organization meetings; Represent Pacific Environment with the press, in coalitions with key allies, and in key policy forums, and assist the PE Communications Team in preparing and posting Arctic materials for media dissemination; Conduct research and analysis to support policy development; Maintain a calendar of International Arctic Events, including a specialized calendar of events and meetings taking place in Alaska; Other tasks as determined by the Arctic Program Senior Director.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 5-6 years of relevant work experience, particularly in Arctic policy advocacy or environmental and social change organizations; Experience in advocacy, policy, and campaign work; Experience in program development and implementation; Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written; Effectiveness operating as part of a team; The ability to develop strong, constructive relationships with other NGOs, policymakers, scientists, and community/indigenous leaders; Experience and success in fundraising are a plus; Proficiency working with Microsoft Office, Asana, Slack, and online research tools; Collaboration with Alaska (and other Arctic) Indigenous Peoples; Marine Policy at Domestic and International Levels; Coordination and Leadership of Strong Coalitions; Understand of Arctic Climate and Energy Issues; Mobilizing public support to stop the climate crisis and protect vulnerable communities impacted by worsening climate; Campaigning and/or organizing experience is a plus.
