• Break news and deliver exclusive reporting on the US airline sector • Produce sharp analysis and enterprise reporting on airline strategy, competition, fleet developments, networks, sustainability, regulation, and financial performance • Cover key industry events, earnings, leadership changes, and operational developments • Support the airlines team’s data-driven journalism and market analysis projects • Build and maintain strong relationships with airline executives, analysts, regulators, unions, airports, and industry stakeholders • Collaborate with the Global Airlines Editor and wider transport and aerospace editorial teams
• Experience in business, financial, transport, or aviation journalism • Strong news judgement and ability to work quickly under deadline pressure • Excellent writing, reporting, and analytical skills • Demonstrated ability to cultivate sources and develop exclusive stories • Interest in airline economics, strategy, and data analysis • Ability to interpret complex industry and financial developments clearly for readers • Experience working in a digital-first newsroom environment preferred
