• Investigate, evaluate, and quantify insurance claims • Determine and provide recommendations regarding coverage, liability, and quantum within policy terms • Manage and adjust assigned claims while meeting company standards and quality requirements • Conduct thorough investigations, interview and communicate with insureds, claimants, and witnesses • Inspect claim sites as required and assign external vendors as required • Recommend reserves, prepare reports, and negotiate settlements within granted authority • Participate in mediations and arbitrations as required • Work with defense counsel as assigned • Maintain accurate records using company custom computer systems and external client systems • Manage billing for assigned files within specified timelines • Assist with collection of accounts receivable for assigned claims • Assist with local branch marketing, attend professional and social events, and develop new business opportunities • Maintain relationships with existing clients and participate in client file reviews and audits • Keep reserves, coding, and reporting up to date on assigned claims files • Pursue existing-client relationships to promote Sedgwick and gain new business • Begin developing a client following • Join local claims organizations and participate in industry events • Support the organization's quality programs • Perform other duties as assigned
• College/University Degree or equivalent • Must possess a valid driver's license • Proven adjusting and negotiating skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office products and Excel • Must have earned a full license in province and CIP or be actively pursuing CIP professional insurance designation • Must have 2 years of experience • Strong knowledge of insurance, claims or business management • Ability to navigate and work in client-required ancillary systems • Ability to work in a remote/home office environment • Analytical and interpretive skills • Strong organizational skills • Excellent negotiation skills • Ability to work in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Ability to handle full adjustment losses locally unsupervised • Ability to cope with extreme weather, environmental and driving conditions at any time of day or night
