📋 Description

• Conduct actuarial analysis and modelling using statistical, predictive modelling, machine learning, generalized linear, and gradient boosted techniques • Produce reports, presentations, and submissions; present findings and make recommendations for corporate decision-making • Develop spreadsheets, database table structures and extracts, and statistical software code for profitability analysis, reserving, and forecasting • Analyze, extract, manipulate, and visualize large datasets to identify trends and patterns • Develop and run reports and communicate actuarial concepts and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Leverage analytics and technology to improve processes, product design, underwriting rules, actuarial methods, analysis, and applications • Collaborate with Product Management, Finance, Risk Management, Claims, and Underwriting on insurance operations and modelling • Respond to routine internal and external stakeholder requests related to standard reports and processes • Adhere to actuarial and regulatory guidance and assist with special projects • Present rate indications, prepare profitability assessments and dislocation analyses, support rate filings, and assess impacts on profitability and growth • Support actuarial pricing model development and implementation and create automation tools for pricing reviews • Contribute to leadership development, succession planning, mentoring, training, risk management, and corporate strategies

🎯 Requirements

• Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Actuarial Science or a relevant field such as Business or Mathematics & Applied Science • Successful completion of at least two Casualty Actuarial Society exams or equivalent progress on the Canadian Institute of Actuaries qualification pathway • One year of relevant experience • Knowledge of actuarial methods, modelling, statistics, and assumptions used in ratemaking and reserving • Knowledge of database structures and logic and data science/statistical tools such as SAS, R, or Python • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance for actuarial work • Knowledge of the insurance industry and insurance product features • Knowledge of mathematics, data management, and programming • Quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, critical thinking, and strong attention to detail • Ability to present analysis to non-technical audiences • Ability to research, analyze, and make decisions • Ability to communicate effectively with non-actuarial areas • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with business partners
