• Develop actuarial pricing models using a variety of techniques • Produce reports, present findings and make recommendations supporting corporate decision-making • Support the development of others and contribute to departmental process improvement • Collaborate with other departments on business initiatives and actuarial projects • Support market and competitive product intelligence • Prepare and review rate indications • Prepare rate filings • Perform multivariate analysis to improve pricing and supporting models • Build, refine, validate and implement machine learning models • Perform complex actuarial analysis to evaluate and quantify risks • Propose and measure the impacts of alternatives and mitigations • Develop and validate highly complex statistical and actuarial models • Gather and manipulate large datasets to solve business problems • Develop and mentor team members • Lead actuarial projects, manage timelines and collaborate with stakeholders • Monitor portfolio key performance indicators and report to leadership • Recommend improvements to rating structures and rating algorithms • Collaborate with product management, underwriting, claims and operations teams • Oversee tracking reports measuring the success of new rating structures
• Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Actuarial Science, Business, or Mathematics & Applied Science • Minimum of 4 years of actuarial experience for the Senior Actuarial Analyst role • Eight years of actuarial experience for the Actuarial Consultant role • Experience preferably in the P&C insurance sector • Significant progress toward associate-level actuarial exams through the Casualty Actuarial Society or Canadian Institute of Actuaries for Senior Actuarial Analyst • FCIA or FCAS designation for Actuarial Consultant • Education, experience and completed actuarial exams will determine title and pay • Ability to develop, validate and implement statistical, actuarial and machine learning models • Ability to gather, manipulate and analyze large datasets • Ability to prepare rate indications and rate filings • Ability to perform multivariate analysis and improve pricing algorithms
