📋 Description

• Conduct regular check-ins, 1:1 meetings, and feedback/performance reviews with your direct reports. • Gather and provide professional feedback to your direct reports from their respective project teams, including project managers and delivery leads. • Offer mentorship first-hand or help find support elsewhere inside or outside the company. • Be the primary point of contact for your direct reports regarding handling planned and unplanned time off, personal updates, but also any needs or difficulties they may be facing. • Develop a thorough knowledge of Syde's engineering career ladder and assist your direct reports in setting and achieving progression goals, helping them identify growth and skill development opportunities. • Regularly review allocations for your direct reports, discussing fit for upcoming projects, skills, and other allocation considerations. • Represent your direct reports, as well as their project teams, in meta-level discussions about team structure, well-being, and professional development. • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the engineering discipline remains innovative and competitive. • Provide continuous technical expertise and guidance to your direct reports and other engineers. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging the adoption of best practices across the Engineering discipline. • Contribute to the setting of engineering standards and the maintenance of documentation, tools, and templates. • Facilitate clear and effective horizontal and vertical communication within the engineering discipline, and between engineering and other relevant departments within the company. • Participate in project retrospectives and other relevant ceremonies of your direct reports. • Help ensure a cohesive approach to solution design and development, contributing to the development of the overall engineering strategy, and aligning engineering activities with overall business goals. • Participate in the hiring process for Engineering Managers and other engineering roles. • Fortlaufende fachliche Begleitung und Anleitung deiner direkten Mitarbeiter:innen und anderer Entwickler:innen • Aktive Unterstützung von Entwickler:innen in ihrer persönlichen und beruflichen Weiterentwicklung • Aktive Unterstützung bei der Gestaltung und Verwirklichung von fachlichen und beruflichen Wachstumszielen • Mitwirkung bei der Klärung von Konfliktsituationen und Bewältigung von Herausforderungen in Teams, Squads oder des Unternehmens • Mitwirkung am Einstellungsprozess für Engineering Manager:innen und andere Positionen im Engineering-Bereich

🎯 Requirements

• At least two years of experience managing engineers in an international, multicultural agency context. • Technical background, with past experience of at least five years in software/web engineering, also in technical leadership roles. • Experience in mentoring and coaching other engineers. • Experience with gathering and delivering constructive feedback. • Ability to create professional development plans aligning individual and company goals. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Growth-oriented, problem-solving, and conflict-navigating skills. • Availability to work in European timezones (UTC-1 to UTC+3), and occasionally participate in meetings in the LATAM timezone (UTC-7 to UTC-3). • Nachgewiesene Erfahrung in der Führung von Entwickler:innen in einem internationalen, multikulturellen Agenturumfeld • Umfassendes Wissen über Technologien und Trends der Webentwicklung, insbesondere mit WordPress, dem JavaScript Ecosystem und dem LAMP/LEMP Stack • Langjährige Praxis in der technischen Leitung und Realisierung anspruchsvoller Webprojekte • Tiefgreifendes Wissen über die Herausforderungen in der Abwicklung komplexer Engineering-Projekte im Kundenauftrag • Bewährte Kompetenz in der beruflichen Unterstützung und Anleitung von Koleg:innen aus dem Engineering-Bereich • Erfahrung im Einholen und Vermitteln konstruktiven Feedbacks • Expertise in der strategischen Planung beruflicher Entwicklungspfade • Ausgezeichnete kommunikative Fähigkeiten und soziale Kompetenz • Kompetenzen im aktiven Zuhören, entwicklungsorientiertem Denken, Problemlösung, Verhandlungsgeschick und Konfliktmanagement • Erfahrung mit Einstellungsverfahren und Leistungsbeurteilungen im Engineering-Bereich • Experience with Slack, Jira, Confluence, Personio, Leapsome, or Runn. • Erfahrung mit Tools wie Slack, Google workspace, Jira, Confluence, Personio • Kompetenz in der Nutzung digitaler Tools für die Arbeit im Homeoffice
