📋 Description

• Review borrower applications, including income documentation, credit bureau, and property details to assess overall file strength and completeness before submission. • Evaluate various income types including salaried, hourly, and self-employed / declared income using supporting documentation such as bank statements, NOAs, and financials. • Compare application details against lender guidelines to determine suitability and identify potential concerns early in the process. • Recommend appropriate lenders and deal structure based on borrower profile, income type, credit strength, and overall risk positioning. • Identify inconsistencies, missing documentation, or potential “deal killers” early and work with agents to address gaps before submission. • Ensure files are complete, logical, and submission-ready with a clear narrative for the lender. • Work closely with mortgage agents to clarify missing information, confirm details, and guide files toward a clean and complete submission. • Support the preparation of lender submissions through platforms such as Velocity or Filogix, ensuring documentation and notes are accurate and aligned. • Communicate with lenders to confirm requirements, respond to questions, and help move files forward efficiently. • Review and interpret lender conditions at a high level, ensuring agents understand requirements and next steps. • Proactively follow up on outstanding items to keep files moving and avoid delays. • Provide concise, accurate, and timely communication to both agents and lenders, ensuring alignment and minimizing back-and-forth. • Ensure all files are handled in accordance with FSRA regulations and brokerage compliance standards. • Support the verification of borrower identity, employment, and financial profile to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Maintain awareness of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements and escalate any inconsistencies, red flags, or unusual activity as required. • Review documentation for consistency, completeness, and authenticity, identifying discrepancies across income, credit, and application details. • Maintain a high level of diligence when reviewing documents to help prevent potential mortgage fraud or misrepresentation. • Ensure all notes, documents, and file updates are clearly recorded and organized for internal tracking and potential audit review. • Follow internal workflows, checklists, and documentation standards to ensure consistency across all files.

🎯 Requirements

• 1-3 years of mortgage underwriting experience within a brokerage or lender environment • Experience working with multiple lenders in a brokerage setting • Strong knowledge of Canadian mortgage products, lender guidelines, and compliance requirements • Familiarity with self-employed borrowers, including income review and declaration-based files • Proficiency with Velocity, Filogix, or similar mortgage submission platform • Experience using Google Workspace (Docs, Drive, Gmail) or similar tools • Strong understanding of FINTRAC, AML, and mortgage compliance requirements • High attention to detail with a focus on documentation accuracy and file completeness • Strong communication and active listening skills, particularly when working with agents • Ability to manage multiple files in a fast-paced, high-volume environment • Highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented
