• Establish and lead Weave's performance engineering practice, immediately focusing on Truelark platform scaling • Define KPIs and SLOs, establish performance baselines, and execute load, stress, spike, and endurance tests • Architect, build, and maintain a scalable, automated self-service performance testing platform integrated into CI/CD • Develop frameworks, tooling, and reference implementations to enable hundreds of engineers to run performance tests • Perform deep root-cause analysis of performance bottlenecks in distributed microservices and provide actionable recommendations • Partner with infrastructure and product teams to define, measure, and monitor SLOs and validate services under load • Act as subject matter expert: document best practices, run workshops, and close knowledge/process gaps across the organization • Report to Engineering Manager and operate as a core member of the Test Infrastructure team
• 5+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Staff) professional experience in Performance Engineer, Software Engineer in Test, SRE, DevOps, or related roles • Strong software development fundamentals with significant hands-on experience in Go and/or Python (Proficiency in Go highly desired) • Deep, hands-on expertise with Kubernetes (deployment, performance tuning, autoscaling, networking, cluster scaling) • Proven ability designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) • Expert-level understanding of performance testing methodologies (load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability) • Experience defining KPIs, SLOs, and performance baselines • Exceptional analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills for distributed systems • Proficiency with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK) and application profiling tools • Experience with modern performance testing tools (k6 preferred, Locust) and building tooling around them • Experience with Go-specific profiling/debugging tools (pprof); familiarity with xk6-g0 is a plus • Experience testing Go-based microservices and systems using Kafka, NSQ, Postgres, and/or gRPC • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to run workshops and document best practices
