Beschreibung

• Set technical direction and own the medium-to-long-term technical strategy for the bank’s cloud infrastructure, data platform, core banking configuration, CI/CD, networking, and Bank–Affirm Inc. integration. • Personally design, build, integrate, and operate ambiguous, high-stakes systems end-to-end, including incident response, monitoring, failure domains, and runbooks. • Establish code review, design review, documentation, architecture, and engineering standards for a small team. • Use AI tools and agentic workflows for development, design review, runbook generation, and operations. • Lead evaluation, integration, operations, escalation, and audit oversight of third-party banking, data, identity, observability, and card-processing platforms. • Define domain boundaries, data flows, and integration patterns between the bank and Affirm Inc. • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, BSA/AML, Finance, and Internal Audit to build examination- and audit-ready systems. • Own reliability, observability, alerting, runbooks, incident response, disaster recovery, and standalone operational readiness. • Communicate technical strategy and tradeoffs to executives, the Bank Board, Compliance, Risk, Finance, examiners, and engineers across Affirm. • Mentor engineers, provide feedback, contribute to hiring, and help grow the team and engineering bar.

🎯 Anforderungen

• 8+ years of software engineering experience • Staff-level, hands-on builder credentials and experience owning ambiguous, high-stakes systems end-to-end through launch and operations • Ability to own ambiguity, make prioritization decisions, take ownership, and balance speed with engineering judgment • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools including Claude, Cursor, Codex, and agentic workflows • Experience building a small, lean engineering culture emphasizing buy over build, default-deny security, and standalone operability • Track record of defining architecture and multi-quarter technical strategy and leading execution across engineers and teams • Deep systems thinking across public cloud infrastructure; AWS preferred • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, particularly Terraform • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or comparable platforms • Experience in banking, payments, securities, healthcare, or another externally examined regulated environment, including examiner-facing documentation and decisions • Experience selecting, integrating, and operating significant third-party platforms after launch • Ability to serve as the technical face to executives, boards, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and examiners • Exceptional written and verbal communication • Nice-to-have: bank or fintech experience, de novo bank launch or greenfield regulated platform experience, bank core/card processor integrations, greenfield cloud organization setup, and familiarity with FDIC, GLBA/Reg P, BSA/AML, Reg E, Reg DD, Reg Z, model risk, and third-party risk management
