Beschreibung

• Design and develop APIs, including specifications, endpoints, data models, and REST and GraphQL protocols • Contribute production-grade code for core services • Conduct code reviews with the Technical Lead and ensure code quality, maintainability, and security • Review solution design with the Engineering Crew Lead and API Architect • Integrate APIs with internal systems, external applications, and third-party services • Promote effective use of AI-enabled tools in the API development lifecycle • Create and maintain API documentation, usage guidance, and best practices • Implement security practices including authentication, authorization, and encryption • Interface with external engineering teams on technical standards, governance, compliance, and cATO maintenance • Monitor and optimize API performance, reliability, and scalability • Manage API versioning and backward compatibility • Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements • Participate in Tier 1 and Tier 2 on-call operations • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Anforderungen

• 6+ years of strong Ruby on Rails experience • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL • Experience with the RSpec testing framework • Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs • Ability to lead engineering teams while remaining hands-on with development • Ability to work in the US without sponsorship • US citizenship required due to clearance requirement • Strong organizational skills • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm • Familiarity with application security principles and secure development practices • Familiarity with Git version control • Familiarity with OAuth • Experience with async job processing tools such as Sidekiq • Experience with Spring Boot / Java • Active VA Public Trust • Prior experience supporting federal agencies, especially the Department of Veterans Affairs • Experience working in an API development environment • Prior successful experience working in a remote environment
