• Direct resources to successfully place organs for transplantation and research while maximizing donor outcomes • Participate in call rotation and communicate with LifeLink transplant coordinators and administrators on call • Coordinate organ and tissue placement with transplant centers, approved research partners, procurement agencies, and OPOs • Use UNet to match donor organs to suitable recipients, communicate donor details and offers, and coordinate acceptances • Coordinate national kidney allocation with UNOS and logistical coordination between procurement agencies and transplant centers • Develop medical and social history narratives for DonorNet and assist with donor evaluation • Ensure Critical Elements are completed and charts are reviewed • Liaise between transplant centers, surgical teams, OPOs, and LifeLink of Puerto Rico; assist with allocation and organ recovery • Adjust logistics for geographic challenges, time zones, transplant center needs, and OPO needs • Obtain and report preliminary and final culture results • Maintain chain of custody and arrange transport of organs and specimens • Document final disposition and organ outcomes • Remotely monitor pulsatile kidney perfusion and communicate information to transplant centers and/or UNOS • Perform placement coordination, documentation, and follow-up during call shifts • Participate in weekly organ placement review calls and meetings • Establish relationships with hospitals, transplant centers, and surgeon groups • Participate in hospital development initiatives and coordinate schedules • Participate in directed research studies • Complete accurate documentation, follow-up, and quality assurance within deadlines • Participate in QAPI activities • Assist with training new coordinators and special projects as assigned
• RN and/or healthcare-related field preferred • Associate degree or better required • Bachelor's degree or better listed as an alternative • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines • Above-average demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills • Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress environment and manage emotional and physical demands • Ability to manage responsibilities and maintain performance during 24-hour call shifts • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance • Availability via cell phone 24/7 as scheduled and for non-call emergent situations • Organization and attention to detail • Advanced written, presentation, and interpersonal skills • Advanced ability to multitask • Minimal local travel • Ability to participate in continuing education to maintain certifications and license
