Beschreibung

• Lead high-impact initiatives within the Safer product area • Design and deliver complex, multi-system projects • Anticipate technical risks and make architectural and implementation decisions • Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and long-term sustainability • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate broad goals into actionable technical plans • Collaborate with engineers across multiple ownership areas to build and maintain scalable systems and applications end-to-end • Independently take on large, complex initiatives, identify unknowns, gather input, break down ambiguous problems, and communicate progress • Lead technical discussions across teams and define requirements with Build and Product • Develop user-focused solutions, articulate tradeoffs, incorporate feedback, and iterate • Participate in day-to-day coding, code reviews, production troubleshooting, on-call rotations, system reliability, and incident response • Identify and prioritize technical debt • Share expertise, provide feedback, mentor teammates, and support work outside the primary domain • Research and incorporate new tools, technologies, or patterns that improve products and workflows

🎯 Anforderungen

• Commitment to putting the children Thorn serves at the center of everything you do • Substantial experience building and operating backend services in production, including Python • Hands-on experience deploying or supporting production applications in Kubernetes • Ability to work with common Kubernetes resources and troubleshoot application-level issues • Experience building and operating services in a production cloud environment • Strong architectural judgment and consideration of broader system impact • Ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces and bring clarity to complex technical challenges • Autonomy and sound judgment in knowing when to seek input • Ability to make pragmatic technical tradeoffs and balance immediate needs with long-term maintainability • Ability to influence technical decisions through clear articulation of tradeoffs and collaboration • Ability to mentor engineers, provide feedback, and establish shared technical standards • Empathy and ability to advocate for users while balancing product vision and engineering constraints • Clear, efficient, and thoughtful communication, especially in a highly distributed team • Experience with Python and Kubernetes required; experience with every other listed technology is not required • Helpful experience with high-volume systems or data-processing pipelines • Helpful experience building software, platforms, APIs, or tooling for other developers • Helpful experience with AWS, Terraform, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch
