• Define the future of banking in the cloud as a Staff Engineer • Devise practical and reusable solutions to complex problems • Drive innovation and optimize business outcomes through strong technology solutions • Promote engineering excellence and inclusive collaboration • Mentor engineers and help recruit next-generation technical talent • Serve as a trusted advisor for key technologies, platforms, and capability domains • Create communications, code samples, blog posts, and other knowledge-sharing materials • Design, build, and operate high-volume, low-latency, highly resilient payment systems and infrastructure • Engineer solutions across core network products and simplify global participant integration • Deliver new features using automation and AI-native engineering • Articulate and evangelize a technical vision • Decompose complex problems into practical, operational solutions • Ensure technical design and implementation quality • Advise on performance, scalability, and operability • Handle multiple projects and maximize impact • Coach and strengthen engineering and product communities • Modernize monolithic systems into microservice architectures and event-driven platforms • Collaborate with senior engineering and architecture leaders on platform strategy and API standards • Provide hands-on technical contribution while mentoring and elevating peers and junior engineers • Lead cross-divisional projects promoting technological best practices

🎯 Exigences

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering) • At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud), and data architecture • Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering • Preferred: 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture • 10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages such as Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala • 8+ years of experience with databases and database management systems • 10+ years of professional experience across the full system development lifecycle • 8+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies • 10+ years of experience with networking protocols and integration with third-party distributed systems • 5+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams • 2+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards • Expertise in the strategic application of agentic AI coding tools • Demonstrated experience using AI-driven tools, frameworks, or modern software development practices • Experience in fintech, specifically payment processing, merchant services, or digital payment architectures • Experience building and shipping enterprise software iteratively, enterprise-scale data migrations, and platform transformations • Experience architecting, testing, and operating real-time distributed data systems and high-volume pipelines • Strong ownership mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity • Ability to act as a strategic thought partner and effective challenger across Product, Design, Risk, and Enterprise Tech leadership • Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization
