📋 Description

• Own the team's technical outcomes and standards for code quality, reliability, maintainability, security, and technical execution • Lead technical direction and design within the team's domain • Translate product and business problems into pragmatic technical solutions • Shape and drive implementation of small-to-moderately scoped features • Partner with Staff Engineers and architects on broader cross-team or cross-product decisions • Mentor engineers across experience levels and provide actionable technical feedback • Use Claude Code and other AI tools in daily development workflows • Identify, test, and operationalize automation opportunities • Address technical debt, architectural risks, performance concerns, and reliability issues • Diagnose complex technical problems using debugging, observability, and system-level knowledge • Build quality into development through automated testing, code review, observability, and continuous feedback • Partner with Product, QA, and Engineering to deliver high-quality software for nonprofits

🎯 Requirements

• Strong, recent experience building and shipping production software as a hands-on engineer • Deep proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript across the stack • Experience with Node.js and Express on the server and React on the front end • Strong experience with relational data modeling and SQL (PostgreSQL) • REST API design • Asynchronous programming • Automated testing • Production debugging and observability • Experience modernizing legacy systems incrementally while a live product remains operational • Experience building and operating integrations and data synchronization between systems • Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions balancing scalability, reliability, maintainability, and delivery speed • Experience serving as a senior technical engineer or technical lead • Ability to influence technical direction without formal management authority • Ability to develop technical approaches, make tradeoffs, and drive implementation and delivery • Genuine hands-on fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar • Experience using AI in day-to-day engineering work, including coding, debugging, research, code analysis, and problem-solving • Ability to use AI and automation to improve engineering workflows, team leverage, and quality • Experience mentoring engineers and increasing technical capability • Ability to clearly communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs with Engineering, Product, QA, and other partners • Permanent work authorization in the U.S. or select Canadian Provinces; no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance available
