📋 Description

• Design and run structured exploratory testing charters against new features, APIs and high-risk platform areas • Investigate complex payment and card lifecycle flows to uncover edge cases, state issues and integration gaps • Partner with automation QE engineers to determine what should be automated and what requires human testing • Feed exploratory findings back into the regression suite • Perform risk-based test planning for releases • Identify areas most likely to break and explain why • Investigate production incidents and near-misses to identify underlying test coverage gaps • Close gaps in test coverage • Champion a quality mindset across engineering and raise the standard for completion • Evolve the exploratory testing practice, including charters, session-based test management, heuristics and reporting • Work within a regulated, security-conscious environment with data protection, PCI DSS and audit requirements in mind

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software quality engineering or testing experience • Track record of leading exploratory testing on complex, business-critical systems • Strong knowledge of exploratory testing methodology, including session-based test management, charters and heuristics • Ability to read and reason about APIs, logs, databases and system architecture • Experience testing distributed, API-driven or financial/payment systems is a strong plus • Working knowledge of test automation practices • Ability to produce clear, actionable bug reports and risk assessments • Ability to work autonomously with accountability for quality outcomes • Experience in payments, card issuing, banking or regulated fintech environments is nice to have • Familiarity with testing API vulnerabilities is nice to have • Exposure to Jira, Confluence, Postman and CI/CD pipelines is nice to have • ISTQB or equivalent testing certification is nice to have
