📋 Description

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain Spring Boot services for the SaaS ecommerce platform • Design secure, scalable, highly available solutions meeting PCI DSS and other security requirements • Design and build intuitive, backwards-compatible, secure, and performant REST APIs • Collaborate with Product, QA, and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle • Design and optimize MySQL relational schemas, queries, and data access patterns • Participate in architecture discussions and drive technical decisions • Write clean, maintainable, idiomatic Java using modern language features • Champion code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and documentation • Use AI-assisted development tools while owning code correctness, security, and maintainability • Own features from design through production, including monitoring and operational support • Work in incremental pull requests with continuous delivery • Improve architecture and software development practices • Mentor engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, and pair programming • Troubleshoot production issues and participate in an on-call rotation as needed

🎯 Requirements

• Operated as a senior engineer or technical lead on Java backend applications • Strong expertise with Spring Boot 3+ and the broader Spring ecosystem • Strong proficiency with modern Java, with new development targeting Java 25 • Ability to write clean, idiomatic Java using streams, lambda expressions, Optional, records, and pattern matching • Experience with Hibernate/JPA or jOOQ • Hands-on experience building and operating production workloads on AWS • Proven ability to design and build RESTful APIs • Strong SQL skills with MySQL or PostgreSQL • Working knowledge of asynchronous messaging systems such as SQS, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ • Experience building and deploying containerized applications • Experience with GitHub Actions or other modern CI/CD platforms • Hands-on professional experience using AI coding tools • Understanding of software design principles and distributed systems • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills • Track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives • Self-motivated and effective working in a remote-first environment • Preferred: experience with multi-tenant SaaS applications • Preferred: Terraform, GitOps, AWS services, React or Angular, payment processing, PCI DSS, API security, TDD, AI-assisted development practices, or C#/.NET
